Step-by-Step: How to Double Crochet

Step 1: Chain 2

Begin by chaining 2 stitches to start your row.

Step 2: Yarn over

Yarn over by wrapping your working yarn over your hook.

Step 3: Insert your hook

Insert your hook into the next stitch.

Step 4: Yarn over again

Yarn over once more.

Step 5: Pull up a loop

Pull the yarn back through the stitch.

You should now have 3 loops on your hook.

Step 6: Yarn over

Yarn over again.

Step 7: Pull through 2 loops

Pull the yarn through the first 2 loops.

You’ll now have 2 loops left on your hook.

Step 8: Yarn over again

Yarn over one more time.

Step 9: Pull through last 2 loops

Draw your yarn through the remaining 2 loops.
